Flooring Sales Professional

At Emerson Carpet One, we are looking for motivated sales professionals interested in joining a well-established flooring company.  A background in sales is a plus, but not a necessity, as on the job training will be provided.  Training will include product knowledge, communicating for success, basic installation knowledge, and proven selling techniques.  Please be willing to learn and have a professional attitude.

Primary duties and responsibilities

  • Selling flooring products and related services. Welcoming customers, helping customers choose flooring to fit their needs.  Providing production information, including characteristics and benefits.

  • Tract leads and customers. Follow up on all prospects, creatively develop leads, and build trust and rapport to develop referral relationships.

  • Scheduling measures - Ask for in house measure; follow up after with product recommendations and quote.

  • Writing sales orders - Write exact expectations for sale, collect deposit, review installation expectations and checklists.

  • Maintain a professional level of knowledge about flooring products.  Complete product knowledge training, review information provided by manufacturer reps and management.

  • Assist in store promotions and events - Review upcoming promotion, offer ideas, confirm expectations, and actively participate in implementing.

  • Engage in a high level of customer service - Build rapport, communicate consistently throughout sales transaction, develop action plan to resolve any complaints.

  • Follow up on orders - Maintain communication through installation; follow up after installation to confirm customer’s satisfaction.

Emerson Carpet One: Our Story

Emerson Carpet One is a family business with a long history. Floyd Emerson started his family in the flooring business with a small, stock only warehouse in New Orleans, Louisiana called Carpet Corner. Lee Emerson, Floyd’s son, grew up working with his father and learning the business during the summers.

Lee later moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to attend LSU. He started selling carpet for dorms out of the back of his blue station wagon. After graduating, Lee started his own flooring business in 1996 and focused mainly on apartments.

Later, he became a member of Carpet One and expanded his reach by selling to large commercial companies, apartment complexes, rental properties and residential homes. Lee has come a long way over the years, and the Emerson Carpet One showroom is proof of that.  Emerson Carpet One maintains an A+ BBB rating.
