How to Install Hardwood Floors
First thing's first, we always recommend professional installation for all flooring. When having your hardwood floors installed, first we do the in-home measure, and then a moisture test. Moisture testing is important because if there is moisture in the subfloor, it can cause damage to your hardwood over time. After the moisture test we make sure your subfloors are dry, flat, and free of imperfections before we go ahead and install your floors. It is important to leave a gap between the base of the walls and the floors because hardwood naturally contracts over time. Once all of the planks are in place and installed, we'll check the surface to make sure there aren't any gaps between planks.
Where Can Hardwood Be Installed?
Hardwood can be installed in places around your home like bedrooms, living rooms, and hallways, and engineered hardwood can be installed in kitchens and basements.
As beautiful and durable as hardwood can be, it does have some limitations on where it can be installed. That means you should avoid installing any type of hardwood in places like laundry rooms and bathrooms because of high moisture. At the same time, we don't recommend choosing solid hardwood for high traffic areas like commercial settings.
Hardwood Flooring in Bedrooms
Hardwood can transform your bedroom into a private retreat, and it can handle the moderate levels of foot traffic you'd expect in bedrooms. Also, hardwood will not trap dirt, dust, and allergens, so it is a clean and healthy flooring option for bedrooms.
Hardwood in Living rooms
Install hardwood flooring in a place everyone can see like your living room. Hardwood offers style and character that simply cannot be replicated. Opt for engineered hardwood flooring if you have an active family, or children and pets in your home. Engineered hardwood is more durable and more stable than solid hardwood.
